Apple Annie's and Willcox

We drove an hour and a half east to Willcox for some fun peach-picking. I LOVE peaches, as in they are the BEST fruit ever created. As in they could be in our house all year long (if only they were in season all year long). I would make peach daiquiris, peach cobbler and crisp, peach jam, and peach pie...if I had time. But, since I knew we were leaving on vacation in a week and we had too many things going on dental practice wise, I know that I will not have time to can a million peaches. So we went picking for about ten pounds and that was it.

But man are they ten DELICIOUS pounds of juicy goodness.

There is nothing quite like fresh fruit from a farm. The girls had such a blast riding around in the wagon, and pulling it. Claire really enjoyed picking the fruit, while Cadence had fun eating it. We also had their all-you-can-eat peach pancake breakfast, and sampled their fudge and kettle corn.

Afterwards, we drove through the little country town, and stopped at Coronado Vineyards before we headed home. The girls were awesome, and let us get a small tasting in. We ordered their baked brie phyllo bites, and enjoyed running around their vineyard.

On our way home, we hit a crazy storm that involved thunder, lightening, and HAIL. Yes, hail. By the end of it, I thought we would need a new windshield. We literally drove in to the "eye" of the storm, with the lightening striking too close for comfort, and the thunder shaking our car. It was almost white-out conditions. The good news is , that it lasted for about ten minutes, then the rest of the way was smooth sailing. I did feel bad for the people going east who had to wait behind a jackknifed big rig.

It's all sun behind us. This was the view driving home...

We can't wait to go back for some delish apples! See you in September Willcox!

Mt. Lemmon

We took the drive up to Mt. Lemmon over the weekend. It's a small ski area that's an hour away from Tucson. The elevation changes from 2400 ft to 9000 in a matter of that one hour. We stopped to get perspective on how high we were. And we ate lunch at the top of the mountain. It made for great pictures and the girls loved checking out the mountain and picking up pine cones. Did I mention that it was only 75 up there, compared to Tucson 100+ ? One reason we will definitely make it back this summer!

We collected souvenirs:
